Some people make it really big, really fast - the majority fail miserably. Failure in internet marketing is usually due to a lack of focus. Those who fail are the one's jumping at the latest, greatest program to come along, looking for the elusive "get rich, do no work, so easy a 5 y.o. could do it". Realistically - it ain't going to happen, without working for it.

For most people all this internet stuff is not easy. Many a marketer has come and gone, and truth be told, it’s not for everyone.

But if you have the desire, you are committed and implement all the things you learn, you can succeed.

Probably the biggest secret you never heard of, is find your routine and repeat it everyday.

In other words, figure out a daily routine that works for you. It may be to check your customer/subscriber e-mail first and take care of them. Do any advertising work you want for the day, whether it’s an e-mail to send your list or re-writing an ad. Doesn’t matter, but without any type of contact out to the world, how do you plan on ‘making it’ and earning even one dollar? Nobody ‘makes it’ by wishing for traffic to their product.

Then, work on your website fixing/updating any pages or uploading a new product. Last, check your other e-mail accounts for any new products that may fit into the theme of your website. I say checking your e-mail LAST because the downfall of most new marketers is they play around with their e-mail for hours first, run out of time for the day and never get around to their real business. They spent all their time chasing the next best thing-joining a new program or buying another e-book they will never get around to promote or read.

How you want to set up your routine is your choice, just stay away from your e-mail accounts until you work on your business, or you’ll soon not have one. It’s that plain and simple.

Of course, you will want to learn new tactics and strategies as time goes on to improve your skills, but as long as you continue to implement what you learn you will have a much higher chance of being successful over someone who does nothing. Reading all those e-mails, watching all those videos, does really amount to doing nothing if it interfers with your business time. And don’t go back to try to catch up on those e-mails you didn’t get to, delete them. Trust me, you won’t miss anything as tomorrow there will be another ‘hot item’ being promoted.

Another problem that keeps people from being successful is most people overcomplicate marketing by over analyzing every single aspect of a business to try to develop the perfect system. There isn’t one. All this does is create more confusion, which leads to frustration and empty pockets. Don’t get hung up on things like the latest Google tricks, you can’t possibly integrate all those ‘master plans’ as you’d be re-building your site all the time. Forget those going from $10,000 a month to $50,000 a month programs. Are you already making $10,000 a month? If so, you don’t need someone else’s ‘magic pill’. I’d be most happy with just a whimpy $10,000 a month. Use some common sense, step back a moment before you spend your hard earned money.

All you need to understand is that when all is said and done, online marketing is purely a numbers game.

Decide what you are going to market.

Have a PLAN.

Get prepaired – your products, website, reasearch and organize your advertising material.

Promote, promote and promote some more. Don’t forget to track your promotions and split test various ads.

Follow up – on yourself. Stay on track, stay pro-active.

Yup, easier said than done. However, once you are set up, then all you have to concentrate on is getting people to your site. As long as you have a good sales process, the rest will take care of itself.

If you find yourself getting discouraged – don’t. We’ve all been there with dreams of success only to see them turn into failures. It’s all part of the “game”. Just keep on keeping on. Some will find success quickly. Most won’t. We all have different experiences depending on our financial situations and backgrounds. Some have more time to spend than others. Only you know you, so work with what you have. Trying to listen to and follow every ‘guru’ you get information from will mean failure. Many of them are only in a J.O.B. (just over broke) themselves. They can’t do it for you and while you can learn from them, you have to make your own way. That’s life.

Remember this: that even successful marketers are in a constant state of failure. The difference is they don’t give up. They let the winners run and cut the losers. It’s a continous cycle, so don’t ever let up. Just because one program or product flops, doesn’t mean they all will. Be flexable, be willing to CHANGE. Change is progress, progress means profits. The world is full of people who will never reach their real potential because they fear change. Leave your comfort zone, dare to try something new.

If you aren’t having success in a particular market, there are tons of other markets you can try. In starting out I would suggest you keep away from the internet marketing niche and other bigger markets and try smaller niche markets with less competition. Not that it is impossible to make money in these bigger markets but it is much more difficult and should be something you take on as you gain experience.

Above all, you have to give yourself a chance. Don’t over analize everything, you can’t be a perfectionist so don’t be afraid to make a mistake, we all make them, and if you wait for the perfect time, it will never happen.

The best advice I have, is to just get started with a plan of action.
Then ACT.

———————–

Article by Mitch Hopkins Editor, ezIncomeMakers Newsletter.
